What is the Professional Horseman's Association? The PHA is a national organization dedicated to elevating the position of horsemen and perpetuating the sports of the horse. The Association is primarily concerned with giving aid and comfort to its members. The New Jersey chapter was organized after the inception of the parent organization. What are the programs of the NJPHA? The NJPHA is involved with the NJ Horse Council and the NJ Equine Advisory Board. The NJPHA has been involved in the move for the Equine Liability Act to protect all horse owners against frivolous lawsuits. It has been involved for revised Farmland Assessment Law and is working with others for improved deductions in Estate Taxes and other legislation for the best interests of the horse industry. Who are the members? The majority of the members are professional horsemen who derive the majority of their income from their involvement with the horse. We also welcome Associate and High Score Members When are the meetings? The NJPHA meets the first Monday of the month. The meetings are currently held at The Pines in Edison at 7:30PM. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. What is the NJPHA High Score Award Program? The high score award program was designed by the NJPHA to promote a spirit of friendly competition and to allow horses and ponies at all levels to compete. These classes are offered by the horse shows throughout the state. The NJPHA calendar year is December 1 through November 30. Membership is due by December 1 for the following award year. A lifetime membership is $250. Yearly high score membership is $25. Membership offers you participation in the high scores program and assures you of being on the mailing list for the monthly NJPHA publication which keeps you informed of the point standing, of any upcoming clinics or seminars sponsored by the NJPHA and any other information of interest to all horsemen.
